The Sweetness of Taking Refuge in Christ (Psalm 34)
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him have no lack!
~ Psalm 34:9-8
Through the good and the bad, the Lord has been with us this semester. The winter break can be so many things. This year, let it be a season of rest and refuge in Christ. We need a place to rest, to give praise, to cry out, and to rejuvenate holistically.
Jesus always talked with the Father, tasted, and lived in the goodness of God—we should do the same. No matter how your semester was, take time to talk to the Father. Truly, taste the goodness of abiding in the secret palace of the hands of God. You’ll want to stay a while: an entirety. In this time, you will yourself find Jesus, who will fill your baskets. He’ll fill them up so much to the point of overflowing. Your needs will be taken care of; you will lack nothing.
Our true rest comes from letting our hearts rest in the Lord. The beautiful thing is there is a sweetness to resting in the Lord. As we rest our bodies, God restores our souls, hearts, and minds. The rejuvenation that comes with resting in the Lord fills up and leaves us with leftovers, and wanting more of Jesus at the end of it all.
